Oskar Blues Brewery was founded in 1997 by Dale Katechis in Lyons, Colorado. In 2002, Oskar Blues became the first craft brewery to put their beer in cans, with Dale's Pale Ale leading the charge in what would become a revolution in craft beer packaging. Oskar Blues demonstrated that cans are actually superior to bottles for protecting beer from light and oxygen — a fact the entire craft industry has since embraced. Now part of CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective, Oskar Blues operates out of multiple locations and remains an icon of the can-forward craft beer movement.
